Dr. Garry Lunn
Dr. Lunn is a graduate from the University of Alberta in Edmonton. He has been in general practice for over 35 years.
For him it has been a lifelong learning experience with hundreds of hours in continuing education over the years. He taught part time at the University of BC Dental Faculty for over 7 years. Dr. Lunn also did sessional lecturing at his Alma Mater at U of A. He was a dental consultant for a major Insurance company for over 10 years.
He is presently involved with two post graduate study clubs at the University of BC and the Sirona Dental Centre.
His office offers the latest in Dental technology utilizing microscopes, lasers, early detection cancer screening devices, low light laser for early decay detection, Invisalign clear braces, intraoral cameras and the use of the most up to date materials and techniques.
Though his work in organized dentistry and education he has received the Distinguished Service Award from the College of Dental Surgeons of British Columbia, Award of Merit from the Canadian Dental Association, and the Merit Award from the British Columbia Dental Association.
He has been invited and accepted for Fellowship in the American College of Dentist, the Pierre Fouchard Academy, the Canadian Academy of Restorative Dentists/Prosthodontists, and the International College of Dentists.
He has served his profession at the local level as President of the Vancouver and District Dental Society, provincially as Vice President of the College of Dental Surgeons of British Columbian and nationally served on the Executive of the Canadian Dental Association, and President of the Canadian Section of the International College of Dentists.
January 1, 2012, Dr. Lunn will take office as the President of the International College of Dentists (ICD). This is the largest, oldest , International honorary Dental organization in the world. It began in 1928 and has over 12,000 members in over 100 countries.
Dentists are “called to fellowship based on their outstanding professional achievement, meritorious service and dedication to the continued progress of dentistry for the benefit of humankind.”
Prior to being recognized as a Fellow of the ICD, the candidates’ qualifications and achievements are evaluated by a series of credential committees in order to insure that he or she is deserving of this honor and will live up to the ICD motto of “Recognizing Service and the Opportunity to serve” .
At the core the organization has fostered growth and diffusion of dental knowledge and promoted and facilitated humanitarian projects throughout the world. There are over 100 such outreach projects funded by ICD members around the world helping those in need. www.icd.org
